Air Travel

Los Cabos, Mexico, is at the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula, a 20 mile ocean front corridor anchored by the towns of San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. The airport serving the area is the San Jose del Cabo International Airport (SJD). Do not confuse it with SJC (San Jose, California) or SJO (San Jose, Costa Rica). You will probably also have fun in those great cities, but you will most likely miss the wedding.

The SJD airport is only 8 highway miles (around 15 minutes) away from the town of San Jose del Cabo, which will be the hub for the wedding.

SJD is serviced by many US and Mexico based airlines, some with multiple flights a day.  Since the wedding will take place during the US observed Memorial holiday weekend (Friday May 26 - Monday May 29), we recommend you book your flights promptly.

This may seem obvious, but please don't consider driving!  

Accommodations

As one of the themes of our wedding is "Community", we have reserved a large number of rooms at a 4 1/2 star resort called Cabo Azul, located in the town of San Jose del Cabo.  This will be our hub. The wedding is at the end of the high season and over a very popular US holiday, but we have secured preferential rates for this very nice resort. That being said, the Los Cabos tourism is 90% international and thus its economy is very much dollarized. 

The Cabo Azul rooms have full kitchens (kitchenettes in the case of the studios). A food market and a Starbucks can be found inside the resort. The rates, exclusive of taxes and fees,  are valid for 3 days preceding and 3 days following the wedding, so you are welcome to make a vacation out of it.

Additionally, Cabo Azul is located on a beach with 8 other hotels side by side. The prestigious Palmilla resort is 7 minutes away by car, while Ventanas al Paraiso is 15 minutes away. Options abound, we hope you can stay at the hub, and if not, visit us at the hub.

Documentation

You will need a valid passport to travel to Los Cabos, Mexico. No visas are required of travelers carrying US passports. For our Mexican guests, it obviously is a domestic flight that only requires a valid government ID for boarding. A passport valid for 6 months is recommended (an expiration date of December 2017 or later is recommended; the Mexican government does not require this but sometimes airlines do).

Ground Transportation

Los Cabos is a very safe area, surrounded by most of the conveniences found in the US, and with the added charm of Mexican culture and terrific hospitality. Taxi service is widely available, at regulated (and relatively high) prices. Car rental rates are actually quite reasonable and driving is simple, in good quality roads, and with light traffic by California standards. Most international car rental companies operate at SJD.

Alternatively, the Concierge team at the resort can assist you with scheduling round trip transfers from SJD to Cabo Azul. There is a nominal fee for each transfer. Reservations must be made two weeks prior to arrival, by emailing your request to Conciergecaboazul@diamondresorts.com . Please include the following: Your first and last name, reservation number, the time your flight will arrive to SJD and the time your flight will depart from SJD.
